The Land off Dunmore Road and Twelve Acre Drive, in North Abingdon, has outline planning permission for 900 homes and 50 retirement properties, together with a local centre comprising a 1.5 form-entry primary school, community hub, 80-bed care home, children’s nursery, pub/restaurant, local retail and other services (planning application ref. P167/V0050/O). There will also be extensive open and green spaces, including parkland, recreation areas, play areas, sports pitches with a sports pavilion and multi-use games area and cycleways/pedestrian routes.
The details of the first phase of the development (comprising 425 new homes) have been approved by the District Council (planning application ref. P19/V1998/RM). David Wilson Homes and Barratt are currently delivering this first phase, which includes a mix of one to five-bedroomed homes as well as new accessible green spaces, a play area and the planting of hundreds of trees.
35% of the homes will be affordable homes for local people and will be managed by Sovereign Housing Association.
The details of the second phase of development, east of Oxford Road, and comprising 371 new homes, have also been approved by the District Council (planning application ref. P22/VO680/RM) Bellway is delivering this second phase, which include 2-bedroom bungalows and 2, 3, 4, and 5-bed homes.
The final phase will include the care home, retirement living and 104 homes of which a significant proportion will be affordable. There will also be a primary school and Local Centre delivering shops, food and drink and community facilities.
We have selected our preferred Local Centre delivery partner and are progressing the detailed proposals in preparation of a Reserved Matters planning application.
Oxfordshire County Council will deliver the school, which will open in line with projected pupil numbers.
